Environmental Education Service
Who are we?
The service is provided by Lancashire County Council and Blackpool Council and is delivered by the Education Team at Global Renewables Lancashire.
What do we do?
We work with Key Stage Two pupils (7-11 year olds) across Lancashire and Blackpool, exploring environmental issues such as waste and helping pupils to take action in their schools and communities. This is done through our:
Waste Is a Resource KS2 Education Programme
This is a three stage programme for schools, in which you can choose from a range of themes to support your delivery of the National Curriculum, the Eco Schools programme, or to help implement your school’s own sustainability plans.
The programme includes:
- The Launch - an introductory workshop and optional assembly at your school
- The Visit to our education centre at our waste recovery facility at Farington, near Preston
- The Onward Journey – a pupil driven action planning session, also at your school.
Participation in the programme is free to schools, including the transport on the education centre visit day.
